Are you passionate about using your expertise to make a tangible difference in people’s lives?
As a Technical Project Manager in our Knowledge Unit, you will play a pivotal role in bringing the Belgian Red Cross-Flanders’ know-how to the world, helping save lives and strengthen health systems in Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.
In this role, you will focus on blood and plasma expertise, working hand-in-hand with our Flemish blood bank specialists and local partners to:
- Support other Red Cross Societies in growing their base of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors, ensuring a sustainable and safe blood supply.
- Help (public) blood banks and health institutions improve the quality and efficiency of blood and plasma production, directly impacting the safety of life-saving transfusions.
You will manage the planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of projects, ensuring they are data-driven, evidence-based, and deliver meaningful results. Working closely with our Center for Evidence-Based Practice, you will also engage in research to continuously refine and improve our services.
Beyond the technical side, you will be instrumental in expanding RKVI’s funding base by identifying and developing new partnerships — with foundations, corporate donors, private philanthropists, and innovative financing mechanisms — enabling us to scale up our impact and reach more communities.
Your impact
- Drive sustainable improvements in blood and plasma systems across Sub-Saharan Africa by supporting local Red Cross Societies, public institutions, and blood banks to increase voluntary donations and enhance the quality and safety of blood and plasma products.
- Strengthen life-saving programs by exporting Belgian Red Cross-Flanders’ expertise and evidence-based practices to international partners, ensuring that projects are impactful, efficient, and scientifically grounded.
- Enable data-driven decision-making through rigorous planning, monitoring, evaluation, and scientific research, directly improving the effectiveness of First Aid, blood, and epidemic preparedness initiatives.
- Expand RKVI’s reach and sustainability by securing new funding opportunities, forging partnerships with foundations, corporations, and innovative finance actors to scale up our global impact.
- Act as a bridge between Flemish technical experts and international partners, ensuring knowledge transfer, capacity building, and long-term resilience in health systems.
